America's Singing Competition Down to Last Six Contestants for '08
American Idol Top 6: Show Loses Kristy Lee Cook of Oregon: Will the winner be David Archuleta, Carly Smithson, Jason Castro, Syesha Mercado, Brooke White, or David Cook?
Reality TV American Idol's top 6 contestants / finalists for season seven -- Jason Castro, Syesha Mercado, David Archuleta, Carly Smithson, David Cook, and Brooke White - will all be back to perform during a live, one-hour American Idol show on Tuesday, April 22, 2008 at 8PM ET/PT. The mentor will be Andrew Lloyd Webber.
Goodbye to Kristy Lee Cook
After a charming performance (of a song, Bye Bye off her new CD EM Squared) by Mariah Carey, Ryan Seacrest told lovely Kristy Lee Cook, 24, that it was her turn to leave the show mid-April. Kristy lives in Oregon and is a horse trainer. She's had vocal training and enjoys swimming and martial arts. She sang "Amazing Grace" in her audition and grew greatly as a singer and performer over the weeks she was on the show. There is little doubt that after her year on the concert tour with the top ten Idol contestants, she will have a long career as a singer. Still, it's sad when anyone leaves the show, and it gets harder as each week the Idols become closer friends and the fans get more attached.

So, what about the last 6 contestants?
David Archuleta
David is 17 years old, from Utah, and is influenced by Natalie Cole, Stevie Wonder, and Bryan Adams. He's had musical training and writes his own songs. He tends to pick inspirational tunes and has been said to have the voice of an angel. His youth and humble attitude are touching.
Jason Castro
Jason is 20 years old and from Texas, He is the guy with the great dreadlocks. He says, "I play drums, guitar and love any artistic stuff..." He has a soft and easy style and a shy, awkward smile that melts fans' hearts.
David Cook
At 25 years old and from Oklahoma, David had red-streaked hair at try-outs. He's looking quite a bit cooler these days, roughing his hair into interesting contortions. His influences include Our Lady Peace and Big Wreck. He's sung in choirs, but has no formal training. David seems to grow more in talent each week. He is the rocker left in the group. Look for David Cook in the finals.
Syesha Mercado
At 21 years old, Syesha lives in Florida. She sang "Chain of Fools" during Hollywood week. Her influences include Whitney Houston and Zap Mama. She acts and dances. Over the last few weeks, Syesha has gotten better and better.
Carly Smithson
Carly is 24 years old, from Ireland, and lives in California. Her influences include Heart, Celine, and U2. She's had no voice training. Carly has a consistantly strong voice.
Brooke White
Brooke is 24. She ilives in California and says she is artsy and right-brained. Her influences include James Taylor, Carole King, and Elton John. Brooke plays piano and leans toward mellow songs.
April 22 Andrew Lloyd Webber Show
In a rare television appearance Andrew Lloyd Webber will join the contestants as the musical mentor of the week.
