Survivor Tocantins Episode 5Jalapao wins reward, Timbira wins immunity, Spencer voted out
Stephen makes plans to keep the hidden immunity idol for his own use, and Taj partakes in her first team reward in Episode 5 of Survivor Tocantins.
After voting out Sandy Burgin at Tribal Council, things are quiet at the Jalapao camp. Taj and Stephen are able to slip off together to look for the hidden immunity idol. The most recent clue Taj received at Exile leads her to believe that the idol is hidden at Tree Mail. When they locate the idol, Taj gives it to Stephen for safekeeping. Stephen feels that since he has possession of the idol, it is his as far as he is concerned, and he plans to keep it. Reward ChallengeThe tribes meet at the Reward Challenge. One tribe member will be seated on a platform, and another tribe member will spin the platform by unwinding a rope. Once the rope is completely unwound, the dizzy tribe member will navigate a balance beam to the finish line. The first tribe mate to cross the finish line will score a point for their tribe. The first tribe to score three points will win the challenge. The first pairs up are Joe spinning Taj for Jalapao, and Brendan spinning Tyson for Timbira. Tyson successfully navigates the balance beam, scoring one point for Timbira. Spencer, JT and Sydney all cross the finish line before their Timbira opponents and Jalapao wins reward. The RewardThe reward is a visit to the Charmin Cafe, where Jalapao will find coffee, pastries, a real toilet, and plenty of Charmin tissue. Jalapao also gets to select one member of Timbira to go to Exile, and once again they choose Brendan. Brendan gets to choose one member of Jalapao to join him, and he chooses Stephen. Because Stephen is going to Exile with Brendan, he does not get to visit the Charmin Cafe with the rest of his tribe. While Jalapao is eating pastries and drinking coffee, JT spies letters from home for the members of Jalapao as part of their reward. Taj is thankful that she finally gets to participate in a team reward. ExileIt is Stephen's first time at Exile so Brendan plays host. They confide to each other that they have their respective idols. Stephen is a little leary about putting his trust in Brendan, since he really hasn't had the chance to get to know him. Meanwhile, at Timbira, Tyson is being to catch on to the fact that Brendan is building relationships with the members of Jalapao. Immunity ChallengeThe tribes are reunited for the Immunity Challenge. In this challenge, two members from each tribe will alternate launcing balls at the remaining tribe members who are scattered around a water course in pairs. The pairs are made up of one member from Timbira and one member from Jalapao. The tribe members in the water will try to catch the launched balls, while at the same time trying to keep their partner from catching it. Each time a ball is caught, the person catching it will score a point for their tribe. The first tribe to score five points will win immunity. The launchers for Jalapao are Stephen and Sydney; for Timbira it's Erinn and Debbie. JT scores the first two points for Jalapao, followed by Brendan with two points for Timbira. JT then scores another point for Jalapao, getting a tooth knocked out in the process. It doesn't bother JT at all, and he soon scores another point for his team, putting Jalapao ahead 4 to 2. Tyson quickly ties the score again with two more points for Timbira. Tyson grabs another ball, and Timbira wins immunity with a score of 5 to 4. Tribal CouncilAt the Jalapao camp, Taj tells her tribe that she is sick of all the talk before Tribal Council about who should be voted out. She claims that no matter what they decide, the outcome is always different. The tribe does decide that the vote will be between Spencer and Taj. Spencer did not perform well at the Immunity Challenge, and Taj did not win points with her outburst at camp. At Tribal Council, Joe tells Taj that he will feel better if she looks him in the eye and tells him that she does not have the hidden idol. Taj tells the tribe that she does not have the idol, which is the truth, since Stephen has the idol in his possession. Joe tells Jeff that he believes her, and the tribe votes. In a 5 to 1 decision, 19-year-old Spencer Duhm is the fifth person voted out of Survivor Tocantins.
