Trista & Ryan Expecting AgainBachelorette and Husband Ready for Baby Number Two & Reality Show
The original Bachelorette and her reality-show husband are pregnant, talking about a possible baby number three and optioning a new reality show.
Trista Rehn first made a name for herself when she was chosen to be the star of The Bachelorette, a female-centered spinoff of The Bachelor. Rehn was on the first season of the dating reality show but, in the end, was not chosen as “the one” by the bachelor, Alex Michel. ABC chose her to star in The Bachelorette where she met Ryan Sutter, a fireman from Vail, Colorado. In the reality show finale, Rehn shocked the viewing public and chose Sutter, telling him “…my walls have finally crumbled and I can tell you with no reservation that I am in love with you.” Lavish WeddingA mere ten months after getting engaged on national television, Rehn and Sutter continued with the reality show theme and televised their incredibly lavish wedding. It was highly publicized that the ABC network paid the couple $1 million for the exclusive rights to televise the ceremony, complete with a two-hour pre-show and a two-hour wedding extravaganza. However, the couple had to hand over all the decisions to the network including dress decisions, decor and food. Baby #1December 18, 2006, Rehn told her husband she was pregnant with their first child after two years of trying for a child. She told People, “I’ve had horrendous morning sickness but everyone says that is a sign of a healthy pregnancy.” Rehn, however, didn’t have quite the healthy pregnancy she was hoping for. In late July 2007, she was diagnosed with preeclampsia. According to WebMD, preeclampsia occurs in women late in pregnancy and is characterized by high blood pressure and protein in the urine. It’s a hypertensive disorder that can potentially be fatal. To add insult to injury, Rehn was also diagnosed with HELLP which is a syndrome caused by the preeclampsia that attacks the woman’s vital organs. After it was revealed Rehn and the unborn child were at risk doctors decided to induce labor at 36 weeks. Baby boy Maxwell was born July 26, 2007 almost perfectly healthy with just slightly underdeveloped lungs. Baby #2 and Reality TVRehn made the magazine cover rounds after Max was born by working off all the baby weight and then some. But she made it no secret that she and Sutter wanted another child. In January of 2008 they announced they were officially trying for a second baby. The Vail, CO based couple announced in October of 2008 that they are expecting again and are due in April 2009. The duo is also in talks for a new reality television series. It would feature the couple, son Max and the new pregnancy. Rehn recently told People, “We’re open to whatever. It’s just a matter of what fits.” Rehn also told the magazine she and Sutter are open to adoption. She’s planning on having a tubal ligation because her pregnancies have been so hard on her and the baby. But she’s always wanted that little girl because she is a self-proclaimed “girly-girl” and adoption has come up in conversation.
