Is VH1's reality series Megan Wants a Millionaire gone for good? That's likely, thanks to the fact that contestant Ryan Jenkins is wanted for the murder of his ex-wife.

In an unprecedented reality TV shocker, VH1 has cancelled its hit reality dating show, Megan Wants a Millionaire, on August 22, 2009. Why? One of Megan's suitors on the show, Ryan Alexander Jenkins, is currently wanted by police for the murder of model Jasmine Fiore.

VH1 Cancelation of Megan Wants a Millionaire

In response to the case, VH1 suspended the show without further notice on August 19, and then officially cancelled it on August 22. Megan Wants a Millionaire completed its filming at the end of March, and the winning contestant is yet unknown. The show only aired for three episode before VH1 cancelled it.

Jenkins was also a contestant VH1's I Love Money 3, which was filmed shortly after the filming of Megan Wants a Millionaire. The show was scheduled to air in January 2010, but now its airing is very much in question.

VH1's official statement on its website reads, "Given the unfortunate circumstances, VH1 has postponed any future airings. This is a tragic situation and our thoughts go out to the victim’s family."

The Jasmine Fiore Murder

Jasmine Fiore was a 28-year-old swimsuit model. Fiore and Jenkins met in Las Vegas after filming ended of Megan Wants a Millionaire, and they married two days later. After a short and rocky marriage, and a domestic violence charge against Jenkins that was set to go to trial later in 2009, Fiore annulled the marriage.

On August 15, 2009, Fiore's badly beaten body was found stuffed into a suitcase and thrown into a dumpster in Buena Park, California. By the time Jenkins was names a person of interest, he had disappeared. VH1 subsequently cancelled Megan Wants a Millionaire.

Megan Wants a Millionaire

Megan Wants a Millionaire was part of a series of dating reality shows on VH1. Megan Hauserman (who previously was a contestant on the reality show Beauty and the Geek) was a contestant on Rock of Love 2, where she was eliminated after trying to date rocker Bret Michaels. Megan got noticed by producers largely for her mean attitude and snippy comments about other contestant, and she was invited to appear on two other VH1 reality shows, Rock of Love: Charm School and I Love Money 2.

After Megan made a comment to Sharon Osbourne on Rock of Love Charm School that she wanted to be a trophy wife, VH1 created Megan Wants to be a Millionaire. The premise of the tongue-in-cheek dating show was this: Megan invited a cast full of millionaires to live in a mansion, and dated them. Millionaires were eliminated until Megan made her final choice.

Could Ryan Jenkins have been Megan's choice? This doesn't seem likely, since he met and married Jasmine Fiore shortly after the show filmed. As of Episode 3, the smug 31-year-old investment banker did appear to be confident about winning Megan's heart. After winning a challenge, Ryan had dinner at a French restaurant with Megan. The pair had little to talk about, but they spent a good deal of time kissing.

The End of Megan Wants a Millionaire

Is this the end of Megan Wants a Millionaire, and the end of the reality TV career of Megan Hauserman? It's hard to say. Perhaps VH1 will capitalize on the publicity and film another version of the series, although even VH1 probably has enough class to film the original series now.
